Welcome to MCC Muar

How did it all start

Malaysian Ceylonese Congress, Muar was formed on 26 December 2007 as the first Branch located in North Johor. At the " MCC Muar, Inaugral Dinner, held at Yuan Shun Restaurant, Muar, MCC Muar, protem Chairman, Mr T.Vijayakone handed over 35 registration forms to the National President Dato' Dr NKS Tharmaseelen. Over 60 ceylonese people attended the function. (See group picture)

In his welcome speech, Mr T.Vijayakone, said :
"So Muarians, let us now join the MCC and support them to preserve the Political, Educational,Social and Cultural aspects of the Malaysian Ceylonese Community. Malaysia is a land of Peace and opportunities. While peace can be enjoyed in solitude, the meat of opportunities can only be procured when we are part of a united and strong community, for united we stand divided we fall."

On 17 August 2008 MCC Muar had its first General Meeting which was held at the Town View Hotel in Muar. The first Committee was elected for the year 2008 /2009.
On 16th October the committee met and planned to organise a Deepavali Dinner 2008 with the objective of bring the community together on this occasion and at the same time raise some funds.
